The Angkor Complex is a World Heritage Site in Cambodia and is a group of temples and ruins built by the Angkor Dynasty, which flourished from the 9th to 15th centuries. The most famous are Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and Ta Prohm. The Angkor Complex, centered in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is very large, with more than 1,000 monuments said to be unexcavated. Pub Street is a bustling downtown area in the center of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Lined with restaurants, bars, night markets, massage parlors, etc., it is crowded day and night with tourists and locals. It is a popular spot for tourists, especially at night when it is lit up and becomes even more colorful. Located in a prime location on Pub Street in downtown Siem Reap is the popular restaurant The Red Piano. It is so popular among tourists from all over the world that it is listed in all guidebooks. Located at the entrance to a street lined with many restaurants, its intersection is also a great photo spot. You can enjoy Khmer cuisine, Western dishes such as pizza and pasta, beer and cocktails, and feel the night of Siem Reap on the open terrace. It is famous for being frequented by Angelina Jolie, the star of the Hollywood movie “Tomb Raider,” in which Cambodia appears as the setting. Her favorite cocktail, the Tomb Raider, which she always drank, is the restaurant’s specialty. It is a refreshing cocktail made with Cointreau (a mildly sweet liquor with a hint of orange), lime juice, and tonic. It is sweet and easy to drink, but be warned that the alcohol content is a bit high! Akira’s Landmine Museum is a small museum located near Banteay Srei, a suburb of Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is run as a “landmine museum” by Cambodian landmine clearance activist Aki Ra, a.k.a. Akira, who collects, safely processes, and displays landmines and unexploded ordnance that he has removed himself. Approximately 5,000 weapons are on display, which is said to be only 10% of all the landmines removed by Mr. Akira, but they fully convey the horror of landmines and the tragedy of war. Furthermore, based on donations, the museum helps children who have been victims of landmines to become self-reliant.
