It’s been a while since I read “Ryoma ga yuku” again. (*I used to count years, so I think my actual age was a year or two younger.)
The first time I read it was when I was a university student.
At that time, I thought it was only five years, or until he left the domain and died…
When I turned 28, I thought I was old enough to leave the clan. It is interesting for me to read it again after a long time, because I notice things differently than when I was a student.
There is one sentence that I would like to introduce. I would like to introduce one sentence, not from the book, but from the “Afterword.
Ryotaro Shiba wrote the following.
How does the charm of a single person participate in history?
…I personally think that from now on, the theme will be “humanity” and “what only human beings can do”, and that this will be an era with a theme that seems warm but is quite harsh, so I think this is a deeply moving sentence, and I would like to leave it here to keep it.
I thought it was a deeply moving piece of writing, and I wanted to leave it behind to preserve it… I tried to post it in a Ryotaro Shiba style (laughs)
